The figs in the floodplain develop buttresses. It is against these that the water mongooses smash the freshwater bivalves - and hence crack the shell so that they can eat the flesh.

I can't think of the name of this plant that is growing in a pot in
my garden. You see them a lot, often trimmed into hedges or with a trunk like a little tree in topiary style. I have also seen them very tall when in the ground.
