Description:

A rather unhelpful little beetle, that didn't stick around for any extra pictures. Odd enough that I don't want to just discard it, but don't hold out much hope for knowing what it is.

In Soy crops, but as usual for farmland, my notion of precisely WHERE in the Soy crop - or even which Soy Crop - is a little bit vague. So 'Somewhere in or around Mpongwe' is about as accurate as I can be. Sorry.

Description:

A rather handsome, medium size weevil (9-10mm?), much preferring to take flight rather than the usual weevil defence of playing dead; never seen a weevil quite so good at taking flight, either.

Seen quite frequently around marked site on that day, always on or near a plant that, by smell and leftover pods, should be African Foxglove; occasionally flew onto Lantana camara and grasses when disturbed.
