I believe this is the same female as observed last year Jan-Feb as posted in http://www.ispotnature.org/node/563865 She raised 2 batches of young last summer and another 2 groups this year, while most of the Artema spiders around the house & shop disappeared over the winter, and presumably perished, this individual stayed in precisely the same spot above the bathroom window the entire time.

Note the young spiderlings have white carapace and legs

Description:

another female from 'Tent City' (a congregation of 50+ tent spiders with closely positioned, overlapping but independent webs), more sandy coloured than http://www.ispotnature.org/node/670081 This one has constructed her to the outside of the fence using a protruding piece of wire to support her 3-dimensional structure (photo 3). In the first photo the spider is seen resting in the angle of a wind blown Comretum hereroense which has lodged in the web, the tent spiders seem to like these fruits and those of C. imberbe - both of which are locally common and with fruits of a convenient size.
