Description:

An update on Cuckoo bees roosting in my garden. First spotted on the evening of 20/12/2015. Initially only one roosting on dried stems of Bulbine frutescens. This increased to 2 roosters and now there are 3 roosting in the identical spot for the last 2 weeks. The 3 sleep in about a 1m radius from each other. They tend to get going at around 08h30 - 09h00 in the morning and come in to roost between 15h00 and 17h00, depending on the weather. They certainly lie in way after the honey bees are at work. All bees photographed have been males.
