Description:

Absolutely amazing to see how they are coming up after the fire; they are literally almost everywhere! It looks like a grass lawn that is coming up. Can we expect a mass flowering the first year after this burn? Or not?

usually not year 1

but afterwards ...

Jan-Hendrik's picture

Okay

but will the year afterwards then yield mass flowering, or as normal?

I dont know!!

I have never seen this species in "mass flower" Perhaps because I have just never been in the right place and the right veld age: but perhaps because they dont.
Only one way to find out: go back each year and look to several places and several fire cycles.
Not the sort of thing that you and I can easily do, but with enough interested iSpotters and enough time, we will know.
