From PhD thesis of BB Janecke (see http://etd.uovs.ac.za/ETD-db//theses/available/etd-03132013-091959/unres...): Owen-Smith (Foraging responses of kudus to seasonal changes in food resources: elasticity in constraints, Ecology 75(4), pp. 1050-1062, 1994) stated that "kudus have a change in their hair coat during the dry season that made it appear thick and shaggy."
