Amazing diversity at Farm Kyffhauser

Discovered your website on Farm Kyffhauser. What a terrific idea - really gives one an idea of the diversity there. Well done. I was impressed by the number of legumes occuring on the farm. Have you ever come across Cullen (Psoralea) obtusifolia?

Cullen (Psoralea) obtusifolia

I visit the farm a number of times per year and therefore see it in all seasons, with plants in different growth phases etc.. Some plants, e.g. have leaves, flowers and fruit at different times. Furthermore, since the rainfall is very variable, it would be possible to see a given flower in December one year and only in March in another year.

I intend adding more of my plant observations to iSpot in the near future. I am struggling to identify a number species, particularly some Fabaceae - see http://www.kyffhauser.co.za/unknown_TN.htm.

I have not yet found Cullen obtusifolia (now called Cullen tomentosum ?) on the farm but it can expected to occur on the farm according to http://www.ville-ge.ch/musinfo/bd/cjb/africa/details.php?langue=an&id=67022.

Unidentifieds

I have had a quick look at your unidentifieds and will study in more detail later to see if I can name any. As to Cullen let us just say that I disagree with Grimes. He never did any fieldwork in Southern Africa so could not perhaps appreciate the variation. I think there are definately 3 posibly four species, in Southern Africa. I have had fully illustrated plates done of all of them and the differences are very clear to see. I still need to complete my fieldwork on these species so any pictures you can make ahead will be great. If you would like copies of the plates to help guide your ids let me know.

Plates

I would certainly like copies of the plates. Are they available electronically ?
