Can you add some details as in what habitat it was found (I'm assuming aquatic) and how big was it, it looks quite large if that is a fishing rod in the image.

A friend of a friend caught it on his fishing rod. It was found in a freshwater lake in Stoke-on-Trent, and you are correct in assuming it is a fishing rod!
As far as I am aware it's in a bucket, so quite large!
That is very peculiar! I have to ask, is it for real, or is there some leg-pulling going on?! Any chance of a photo of the underside?

The brown thing looks like a large cone, partly stripped of scales. Vegetable not animal. The "fork" at the top looks artificially placed.
Apparently very real! No leg pulling as far as I know?
This is the only photo I was sent I am afraid!
Lost a model?
I really want to believe it's a real animal, but I must say "Spoofus absurdicus" is not a valid scientific name. However, I think it was funny!
