Description:

First attempt at identification, looking at Collins nature guide. Realise I needed to move more details. Small globules on decaying wood.

I think you are correct with your Latin name. This is a slime mould in the plasmodium stage not a fungi but on iSpot being in Fungi makes it more likely to be seen. I would agree with you but I'm not sure what 'unknown' will throw up on the carousel!

Best to add a new identification - put the systematic name in, click "Get Recommended" to find the common one iSpot's database uses. The it should link to others.

They become paler when the spores develop. Greyish to pale pinky and sometimes pale brown.
