Unfortunately my computer screen just isn't good enough for me to be able to make the animal out with any certainty, but I think the first photo is its rear end disappearing with the base of the tail showing?

At the limit of my telephoto, I'm afraid. You are quite right about the first photo, the second one shows it on its back (head up, whiskers just visible), the last is just the head looking more-or-less straight at us. Luckily, some of the birders here had powerful telescopes for us to get a better look!
