Goosander female and juvenile??????

I'm really stuck with these, my bird book doesn't have a full picture of the juv grrrrr. I think the one on the left is a F Goosander?

I'm putting the bird book down as I really can't decide if they are Red Brested Mergansers or Goosanders!

Don't give up!!

It's always tricky with younger birds, don't get me started on Gulls!

As Chris and Ian ahave said I think you have one of each which might have caused the confusion?

Just out of interest, what is the book you are using? Some are certainly better than others.

Female and juvenile Goosander, I would say. Juvenile with white mark between bill and eye.

lol don't mention waiders or the Ruff!! I'm using the Collins Bird Guide. (the one with Barn Owl on the front) - I should probably get the updated one!
