Description:

A small (approx 1.5cm long) caterpillar. Generally pink in colour; the back is rather darker. Can anyone help with an ID, please?

Did you get any other views of it, this one seems to be showing the underside only? Possibly a bit of the flank too.

I know the feeling Ian, I have had to scarper from trying to get a focused shot of caterpillars on moorland due to unbearable midges, leaving me with similarly challenging pics for IDing. Looks like a noctuid but beyond that I'm struggling.

Could well be that Ian, there is a similar lateral stripe and overall colouration is close to those in ukleps. Still for me its hard to say it might no be one of a number of noctuids.

Hi Cathal, Yes, this one has sat and glared at me for a long time but I've finally had a stab at it. Let's see if anyone will stand up and say it's not this ;)
