Description:

Medium to large agaric with whitish cap, greasy when damp, pink gills and the base of the stem encased in a volval bag. Solitary or scattered on dung heaps, rotted straw, manured ground, compost heaps.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Can't help with id but I will make sure if I find this or similar species I will not try to taste!!!

It was,

The strangest taste I have ever tasted, and it says its edible in most books, though could be confused with some amanitas, they also have a volval sack though this I didnt find as I didnt look, school boy error I think ! ;)
