Description:

Group growing on north facing slope in rabbit managed grass. Cap 10cm across, hazel, silky, cuticle peels, striated at edge. Flesh white. Gills crowded, decurrent, white. Stipe 8cm long, 1.5cm across, volva present. No noticeable rings, milk, smell. Spore print cream. I'm stuck and can't even put it in a genus - any suggestions please

Are you sure about the volva? This looks like Clitocybe nebularis to me.

maybe you have mistaken the very woolly base as a decomposing volva.I would say Clitocybe neburalis too

Thank you both - yes I have mistaken the woolly base for decomposing volva! It is great to have an identity for this lovely mushroom.
