Description:

A picture wing fly with a hump on its thorax. Netted over an area of Carboniferous Limestone grassland with mainly short turf. Not a tephritid. Individual wing length approx 2.8mm

Hump

The angle that the fly has set in makes the scutellum appear to stick up, so I imagine that is what you are seeing. It is an Ulidiid fly, and a nice one.
