Hi Donald, Thanks for the ID-

Hi Donald,

Thanks for the ID- mine was pretty speculative and you may well be right, RTSC isnt one I am very familiar with. In fact I dont think its ticked on my list yet, Barred is so maybe Im just assuming this is another. I'll have a look at RTSC tomorrow.

Hi Donald, I was just

Hi Donald,

I was just flicking through Waring to have a look at RTSC like you suggested, the first moth that caught my eye on the page was the buff version of Red Carpet. It might even be that. The colouration is appropriate and its male has feathered antennae. It may be what you suggest- at this stage I do not think its what Ive suggested above, Barred Carpet has a dark basal patch to the wing and this doesnt.

Ive had 2 Red Carpets in the habitat (moorland) where this one was got but I dont think this one is in good enough order to ID reliably. Maybe Xanthorhoe or even Geometridae is about as close as can be got this time.

Hi Donald,

I think you are on the right track here but is it possible to say if its Red or Dark Barred Twin-spot Carpet?

As you are more accurate in your suggestion than I was with mine, would you like to add a Red/Dark-Barred TSC identification- I think the little detail there is to go on suggests one of these 2 as you say?
