Fungus/lichen on woodchips near to small housing development, about 1 year on ground.
Red about 2mm diameter height about 2mm , cylidrical. When popped yellowish inside.
Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!
Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
You should definitely go back and have another look as i suspect these are birds nest fungi but there are more than one species so need to check which one.
Took specimens to Pembroke Fungi Event today and mycoligist suggested might be one of the Bird's nest fungi! Will be definitely monitoring over the next few days and will try to post new observation in due course.
Still problems with site which I hope will be resolved quickly or I will quit
The more I know the more I realise I don't know
