Polypore?

No sign that I could see, but it's not impossible. The wood was soft enough to break apart easily and this was growing over a fairly wide area.

Looking in roger phillips mushrooms book, page 376 has almost the same wet looking small yellow globose shaped beast, looks very much the same, though I wasn't sure enough to give it 'I am certain it is this' status.
