Does anybody read these posts?
Yes I read these posts.
Sounds (looks) like a cri de Coeur.
I hadn't but NOW I will!
Update us then as there are now three of us!
Well it seemed like nobody read the posts including the official representative for the South West Forum. I announced a Recorders Forum in Bristol a month ago and it got no response.
Very excited to find this website and forum... A little disappointed now that not much is happening. My score on the fish quiz was dreadful!
I have just joined and will be looking at the posts
Your call to arms for the BRERC meeting will have reached some people by other routes, and I believe you had a good number (100?) at the meeting. Others may have had a better offer for the day – I was at a field meeting of the Somerset Lichen group, for example.
It made me wonder how many iSpot members are in the Bristol area. The search facility does not link to members’ details, but to postings from the Bristol area and some of those will be by people living here.
How many read the S West forum is a known unknown; this is my first post on it, as opposed to reading it, and there must be others like me.
So yes – there are people out here.
... at least "South West" makes some sort of geographical sense: I'm in South Oxfordshire, so both SWest and SEast groups will be too far away to interact with (ie meetings, outings) but the "South" forum presumably covers the whole of southern England.
And there is hardly any action on it - I think the last entry was 21 weeks ago, so it's not exactly a thriving community!
Sometimes I feel so alone...

You're lucky Rachy, I read everything you write.
I read (have read) all the regional ones.
But, honestly, none are very active, it seems.
One can visit them all, one by one, from here http://www.ispotnature.org/in_your_area
Wales is doing well - but it's not up to the Mentor, it's up to members.
I have now contributed to my own - even if it is so far away!
Not sure if I should be laughing, or cowering in terror - it's been a while since anyone growled at me!
You are right, it's up to the members - I wonder if the geographical categories are too large? Would there be more action if it were a bit more localised?
I realise it would mean a lot more forums on the list: but this thread concerns action in the Bristol area, yet the forum is SW which covers everyone right down to the toe of Cornwall. Would more people be looking in, if there was more of a chance it would be something they could attend?
I know that I, personally, rarely bother to look at the regional forums, mostly because they are 4 weeks, 21 weeks, 10 weeks etc old. (I only read this one because it was a mere 5 days old, plus I am installing a new email setup on a new pc and frankly, any displacement activity I can find...)
Would "County" be more successful than Region, I wonder?
Shhh - I have heard that Regional Forums may disappear because they are sleeping....
So, how about joing in, Sou'westers, and make Monthly Sightings a regular and ongoing theme of Regional Forums. See my start in Scotland.
