Maybe a day for mushrooms, but not Chanterelles. Whatever this is, it isn't a Chanterelle. Looks more like a Russula. Any more photos?
stunning specimen youve got there Dav! not sure what it is, but its definitely not a Chanterelle. they are much less chunky, yellow in colour and are found in woodland.
might be gomphidius they can look a bit like this when they are past their best and may come up with some of the other bunch of mushrooms you have been posting.
