Description:

A selection of pics of this pretty little butterfly - a first for me! Despite a mainly grey day I'm pleased to get some macro shots of this species - some with flash, some without.

First visit for me...

... but won't be my last! I think the lack of sun did me a favour with the SPBFs. When we did have a fleeting glimpse of sun they were very active and hard to photograph. As it was I was able to approach very close with a small tripod which allowed me to try shots with and without flash. Saw some other good species too, and on a warmer day it looks like it'd be great for beetles.

Great photos, really hard to get good shots of moths and butterflies

Well done
