I agree with your ID as a grasshopper, but I don't think it's a meadow as the wings are too long. And it's not green enough. The hairy underparts would suggest it's a common field grasshopper Chorthippus brunneus, which is the other species most often encountered (other than meadow that is).
A good idea to take photos of both top and bottom surfaces - or dorsal and ventral as they say in grasshopper guides.
