Escapee?

That really does look like a "locust" - one of the large, warmer-climate grasshoppers - although it's not actually all that big. The wings are unusually long, though.

I'm not an expert on our native grasshoppers (is it possible it's a long-winged version of one of those?), but my guess is that it's escaped from a pet shop. They do also occasionally fly over from the continent, but South Wales is a long way to go. Interesting...
