The Large Copper upper side is almost entirely orange and as far as I know it is extinct in the UK.

My literature agrees with your statement of it being extinct in this country, but size of specimen,plumpness of abdomen & outer edge of underwing is what led me the the conclusion of it being L. dispar. Plus, I agree the male's wing is almost all orange, but the female has similar markings as L. phlaeas.
I guess I'll have to delve deeper into it.
