Description:

20 of these outside a small mammal burrow. They look like large acorns that have all been cut exactly in half and then barbecued. Are theyb acorns? How are they like this?

I'm not sure why they should

I'm not sure why they should be so black but squirrels tend to split nuts cleanly in half like this as opposed to mice which nibble a small hole.
