Fungi attched to base of tree, the species of which I foolishly didn't record but most likely oak as they predominate.

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Hi, they can vary in appearance quite a bit and are sometimes quite bulbous. especially when young; these look like young ones to me.
It may be worth going back in a few days if possible to see how it matures.I am not convinced that it is Chicken of the woods I think it may be a very immature Giant polypore - Meripilus giganteus.
