Found in old chalk quarry. Short flowering stem (~10cm). Range of colours around, from pink through purple to blue. Small alternate leave, slightly glaucous looking (second picture). Not sure if this is the common milkwort or heath.

Species with which Common Milkwort (Polygala vulgaris) interacts

Polygala calcarea

This is probably the Chalk Milkwort. The habitat suggests this and the basal leaves appear to form a rosette, typical of this species but not the Common Milkwort.

Chalk Milkwort also tends to have more stem pigmwent, but this is variable.
