Garden Pest

This initially looked like a short worm, until i noticed the very large back end - it definitely moved forward with pointy end.Looked like tiny 4 little legs to it too (stumps?). Its droppings have been sticky tiny little mud pellet type things all clumped together and i think garden is being taken over by these things as garden pretty inundated by the droppings. What is it and how do i get rid?

Just a guess!

A type of leatherjacket? (cranefly larva - tipulidae)? Just a guess!

Yes, quite possibly a larva.

Yes, quite possibly a larva. I don't think you can get rid of them.
