Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

It is easy to check it is edible if you want to eat it. Beefsteak fungus will look like it bleeds when you cut it. Literally you will get what looks like blood coming from it. The flesh is kind of marbled and looks a bit like meat (steak).
