the one thing that concerned me was the size as I have never seen them that big before usually cap is 3-7cm and stem 6cm.I have always found them under pine plantations and also noticed the acrid smell even though they say the smell is not distinctive.The one thing that would help is if you can remember how the cap felt as it should feel greasy.
I am pretty sure this would not produce white spores.
The cap was not greasy, more soft and Downey. I may get back and collect one for a closer look. Thank you both for your help.
