Bramble. Stems terete, or nearly so; prickles not restricted to "angles" of stem, grading into pricklets and acicles, +/- erect, +/- straight; hairs absent; stalked glands absent; leaves ternate or quinquepalmate; stipules lanceolate; leaflets +/- overlapping, cordate, mucronate, ciliate, hairy below on veins, sparsely hairy above; petiole and petiolules spinose and hairy; petiolules (at least) with sparse stalked glands; fruits black, with relatively few drupelets.
