By itself under a large sweet chestnut in pretty deep woodland shade. Sandy acid soil. There was quite a noticeable smell in the area but I couldn't tell if it was coming from this. It's been raining for some time so I assume the dark slime has washed off (or it's something completely different...). 12-15cms tall.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
