Description:

My attempts at salad growing are very limited, but when it was suggested that water cress could be grown without running water I decided to give it a go. The cress grew and was nearing a harvestable size when literally overnight it disappeared. What I hadn't realised that the plant is a relative of the cabbage and that Small Whites that had suddenly taken to my garden were using the cress as a good food source for future offspring.
