Description:

It looks rather like Limonia nebeculosa but I'm put off that ID by the distinctly orange halteres which don't seem to be shown or mentioned in any description I can find. On the outside of an isolated building. Can anyone help, please?

It not be that.....

Limonia nebeculosa has a distinct wing mottling that is entirely absent in this specimen.

Tipula pargana (sic) or holoptera

T. holoptera has not been recorded from Scotland (yet) whereas T. pagana is widespread across the British Isles. It is also queried whether the former is merely a sub-species of the latter.
