Large herbaceous plant on bare earth next to quarry.
No interactions present.
But it looks rather like Ruscus aculeatus, Butcher's Broom.
...but the leaves are not sufficiently pointed at the tip (and they have marginal teeth which Ruscus lack), nor are they dark green and glossy: and Ruscus is evergreen, not herbaceous.
It looks hauntingly familiar, though, so I shall watch this Obs with interest!
