Description:

Presumably a male Bombus jonellus vogti. Just checking it isn't something rarer, but the black on the abdomen presumably rules out distinguendus.

Surely pratorum would have a darker thorax?

Bumblebee

B. pratorum has never been recorded from Shetland. I think it is B. jonellus vogti, although there was just the remote hope that it could be B. distinguendus, although the presence of an indistinct black bar on the abdomen would seem to rule that out.

Mike yes your correct, I'm

Mike yes your correct, I'm sure i've been told jonellus on the Northern Isles can or do have orange bottoms. I'mm ask Murdo MacD.
