I know I was harping on yesterday about how many 'determinable' marbled carpets were IDed as aggregates on iSpot and I believe there are.
This one isn't one of them. For me I would need a view of the underside of this one to be sure. I actually think this is a truncata based on the shape of the rear edge of the central band. The projection just doesnt seem long enough for citrata but that being said, its longer than on many truncata.
You didnt happen to get an underside shot by any chance?
no for the first time in ages I juts snapped it on the trap and let it go. Never mind.
They are very nice these pale ones but I have noted both species can display this colour scheme, its well enough depicted in books and in UKmoths too. I have been surprised by a few truncata with vividly contrasting darks and lights in the colouration before which were so different from the truncata I had become familiar with I thought they must have been citrata. The underside line told otherwise.
