You are probably right, it looks like Willow Redgall Sawfly. But you should add it as an an identification so people can agree it. Click on "Add an identification", and enter common name and scientific name and how sure you are. Cheers, Paul.
Could this be Pontania proxima the Willow Red Gall Sawfly ?
Looks like it in my books
Ron, I've added an ID on your behalf. I'm not an expert on sawfly galls but looking around the site there are several observations of sawfly galls on willow, including this http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/362789 which suggest P. proxima is likely to be found on Crack Willow, Salix fragilis. The leaf looks like S. fragilis to me. So I think you are probably right but we'll see if anyone else thinks so.
Adding an ID to your observation allows other people to hit the "I Agree" button and is by far the best way of confirming observations on this site. If you are not sure how to do it, click on help and watch the second video "How to add an observation".
All the best, Paul
