Description:

Tree about 6metres tall, growing in hedgerow alongside A10, about 1 mile South of the M11 opposite the old Syngenta site. Leaves look like probably evergreen but not 100% sure on that. Fruit looking quite well developed and flowers both present at the same time makes me think given the date that it is probably from a much warmer climate than here though clearly able to survive moderately hard winters once established.

? Aesculus

Would this fit with the fleshy, pear shaped fruit? And still flowering in September? I will cycle down there again soon and cut open a fruit to check.

Apologies

Spelt California wrong!

Looking more likely, some

Looking more likely, some varieties do flower up until September.
