In the grass beside bracken - a common woodland species
No interactions present.
I don't remember ever seeing this species in woodland, but I do see it quite regularly in wetlands. Nice photos.

That will be the thing...I have little old woodland at all round here, but lots of old wet meadows in the Lower Derwent Valley. latifasciatus hardly ever seems to crop up in the local conifer plantations, but is the commoner Eupeodes in the wet valley meadows.
