Description:

3.5cm roughly spherical with long stipe 2.5cm x 15mm. Tan with brown scales. Growing in slightly acid soil amongst leaflitter under oak, hazel and ash. Very frequent.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

The markings make S areolatum

The markings make S areolatum most likely but it does have a longer stalk than I would expect.
