Polecat is possible at this location but I'm not confident about distinguishing between polecats and polecat-ferret hybrids. Two of the features that normally suggest ferret or hydris are a pinkish nose and a lot of pale fur on the face, and with the state of this poor thing it's difficult to tell on either. Don't worry about the photo - reports of road kill (sadly) have a big role to play in monitoring mammals, as its often the only way we see such elusive creatures.
