Certainly sandeel David and most probably the Lesser Sandeel. I cant (personally) definitively rule out juvenile Greater Sandeel but they look just like young Lesser Sandeel which frequent my local shores during the summer.
What are the key differences between the two. There might be something in the full-res unedited images to help.
I couldnt honestly tell you anything anatomically different about them other than the lesser sandeel is small enough to be eaten by the greater sandeel and I have seen that happen.
Im sure there are anatomical differences though, size of adult is the key thing but then again, the bother is knowing if you have a juvenile greater or an adult lesser, sorry to state the obvious!
I'm sure there will be differences, so I'll wait and see if anyone comes along with them.
