yellow fungus

Fungus <10cm across. Growing in leaf litter of wet oak/birch woodland. Sorry about poor photo!

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

    Likely ID
    yellow brittlegill
Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be.

Pam needs to add a scientific name

It looks to me like Russula claroflava, which grows with Birch - but there are others it could conceivably be, too.
Worth a punt, though.

I would go for Russula as genus but very hard to narrow these pesky ones down without the right gear.
