Description:

I've noticed this fly attracted to the lights at night a few times - such a distinctive shape with spherical head-on-a-stick and pointed abdomen. It's pretty small - maybe 10mm long. Any ideas?

Hybotidae

not Platypalpus, which has a swollen mid-femur with which it holds its prey. Some other Hybotid

Edit: more likely Empididae, something like Rhamphomyia
