Description:

this moth is causing me some challenge... tho it feels like it should be obvious what it is. any input very welcome/appreciated. it came to the light of the house.
it presented as a fairly non-descript moth, a small pale (light-brown/brown-grey) noctuid. it had an interesting suggestion of a central cross line that seemed to dip towards the leading edge of the forewing, as it follows the line of/is part comprised of the kidney mark. (i included the blurry photo because it shows this initial impression quite well). it sat with it's wings quite 'flat' rather than particularly 'tented'. its abdomen stopped a few mm short in relation to its folded wings.
a quaker? a clay?
