Quote from Geoffrey Kibby's

Quote from Geoffrey Kibby's British Boletes
"Xerocomellus porosporus .......Flesh in stipe yellowish but soon staining dull brownish red to vinaceous with vary rarely any blue" The colour changes associated with Boletes are best seen on mature and very fresh material Alan Hills told me it should be within 1/2hr of collection.
In this case the only way to be sure would be to check for the truncated spores.
