Leaf sheath

I agree with your confusion and don't think it is possible to reach a conclusion from the photos. The leaf sheaths in E. atherica have scattered, longish hairs likened to eyelashes along one margin which are definitive. E. repens is often coastal.

Looking at the samples I collected, I'm still not sure, but I'm still a bit of a grass novice. The spikelets look a bit smaller in this once compared with the other, but I guess that could just be normal variation. I can't see hairs on leaf sheaths, but I'm not so confident to say they aren't there since I don't really know what I'm looking at...
