In another Obs posted today I mentioned I get dragged on walks as the token naturalist. Well this naturalist failed to spot this guy almost under my feet; pointed out by someone much younger and certainly more alert.

Younger and more alert....

Already finding my 19 month old daughter sees things I miss! Showed me a ladybird the other day, hidden well away. Is a combination of a source of great pride and great concern!!!

Feel free to look at my ongoing (hopefully improving) collection of pictures on Flickr:

I remember the small daughter

Of a Worcestershire volunteer and professional ecologist. She would dash around, bringing back all kinds of creatures for identification.
Her Ozzie grandparents were horrified - you just don't pick up any wild animal in Australia... It makes you realise how generally benign UK wildlife is (clegs notwithstanding!)
