Really beautiful, with purple-blue shiny tips under water

Another one I saw the same day has also been IDd as the same thing, though I thought it looks quite different...
is a very variable species. I have posted something here that might be of interest, http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/309479
There is another species which looks similar, Mastocarpus stellata, but that has a channelled base to the frond. This post show this feature well. http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/117027
It is a matter of personal preference, but I post seaweeds in the Marine rather than Coastal habitat. I wonder if you have seen this page where all the posts are sorted. http://www.ispot.org.uk/habitats It does not appear on the Home page, but it makes searching for posts that I am interested in much easier.
Interesting. Funnily enough I hadn't even noticed the Marine option. I'll migrate them over...
and thank you
All of my relevant posts should now be under Marine. If you now use the map filter, you can now see the 8 of my posts that don't have a likely ID (if you're interested...)
It is not that I am not interested in you other posts, but rather that I am taking my time to consider them. I prefer to be sure before I comment and photos do not always show the relevant features. But as time goes on I will be making comments where I can,
I also keep coming back to things as I gradually learn more about different groups. It's a very enjoyable, endless task...
